Despues de mucho tiempo....

So, in case you didn't know....I have arrived safely in Costa Rica! Sorry it has taken so long to post updates.  The Lord has been doing some amazing work in and through me here and I am SO excited to fill you in on everything that is going on!!  I haven't been taking tons of pictures, but I promise I will get better!
Here are a few pictures of some of the adventures so far:
The plane ride...how beautiful!

These are some pictures of the church we are working on in Tuetal, another Methodist church in the area.  Pastor Victor is doing some amazing things in this community, and he and the church could really use your prayers!  The first picture is of the actual church, and the second and third pictures are of the area that we were mostly working in.  There will be Sunday School rooms and a kitchen here so that the church can be more than just a building for Sunday worship.  Please pray that the Lord would bless this church and its leaders and that the Lord would do a transformation in the surrounding community which is very dangerous as of right now.  The fourth and fifth pictures here are of some of the work that we were doing.  During the week we plastered 3 outside walls and 2 inside walls, we laid cement for the framework of the countertops in the kitchen, and we installed ceilings in two rooms!  They were keeping us busy for sure!!  At this point I still hadn't gotten really good at asking people to take pictures so that I could be in some, but I took a special picture of my shoes so you all could see how hard I have been working:

Sandy Logan and Shannon...this was just for your guys cuz you know what they looked like when I bought them!!
The workers here say that I just rub paint and dirt on my body and clothes so that I look like I have been working, but I promise I'm making you all proud! :)
I've also been learning lots of construction words....in English and Spanish! haha!  Translating proved to be quite a problem when I didn't even know what the English speaking missionaries were talking about!! I'm working on it though!
The second week I was here I worked on the pastor's house.  As of right now, there are 7 people living in a 3 bedroom house, and I am sharing a bed with my Costa Rican sister Daniela:
I wish that I had taken a picture of the way that she sleeps....I think you might understand why I haven't been blogging much...I am working all day and not sleeping at night.  Let me see if I can explain...she sleeps kind of like she is sky diving...with her arms and legs all spread out, so I sleep on about 1/5 of a twin size bed!
Anyways, here are some pictures of Danni (the pastor's youngest son) and I working and getting ready for the group that came in last week:

I don't have anymore pictures from the work this week, but I am hoping that maybe some of the people from the group that were here will send me some that I can share with you.  This week's group was amazing!  They had such amazing passion for the Lord and for His will in their lives.  I had such a wonderful time getting to know them and serve with them.  I have never met a group of people that were so easy to get to know and love!  I already miss them!  One of the girls from the group is really passionately seeking God's will in her life and could definitely use your prayers.  She feels called to Uganda but is not quite sure what she will do or for how long, but I would just ask that you pray for the Lord to strengthen Melissa's faith and trust in God's plan and that He would clearly reveal His will to her!  I love you Melissa!
I have also been having a great time with my new Costa Rican friends and family! Last Sunday after church we went out in the community and planted some trees with the youth and some adults from the church.  It was so much fun!! I really had a super amazing technique that I will try to find pictures of for you, but for now I'll just show you a few of us working:

That's me....with the blonde hair! haha! :)
This is me and my little bro Dougi relaxing after planting 50 trees!

Well adios for now.  I promise I will be better about updating now that I know what I am doing and I am getting my feet a little planted here.  Plus Mom, Dad and Logan are here now, so I will have to let you know about all of the silly things they do!  I love you guys and miss you!!

  1. IT's looking good! Just hope you stay on it!
If you want the pictures from our team look up Todd McGehee on FACEBOOK and he has a folder just for the pictures from there.
I will send the team the link to this too. I think it will mean a lot to Mellissa that you asked for prayers for her by name.
Thanks. Glad we had the chance to get to know you.
